tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-412401039504921080.post4676445368476345585..comments2021-05-23T10:43:01.704-07:00Comments on Benson's House: Conversations at People's PartiesJohn Milnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07703682856735806853noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-412401039504921080.post-68375770189828494012010-10-28T20:17:47.794-07:002010-10-28T20:17:47.794-07:00it is a very sad state that the writing of a novel...it is a very sad state that the writing of a novel has come to what that young man had stated. or that our society has become one that needs everything right this second. im guilty of it myself. but i still believe that there are certain things that are meant to be savored. my first love, music is one of them. but more importantly, in this case, writers being able to take you away from this chaotic world and transport you into another realm. whether it be fiction or non, reading in itself should be savored and understood on a deeper level. when an author can help me see and feel the things that are going on with the characters of the book, it is a great escape. and as for writing to appease a society that can only read on an 8th grade level is very disheartening. growing up, my mother and father suggest i read to expand my mind, my vocabulary. and that obviously could never have been accomplished if the books i read were written on an 8th grade level. that comment itself really floors me. how is it that all of a sudden everyone seems to be content and not strive to be better? i may be getting of course here, but i just needed to say it. ive read a book before that required me to use a dictionary ............ but i learned from it. its ok to want more and to want to be better. and i must say, the last paragraph was very inspiring. with writing and with all things that you feel strongly about. always stick to your convictions! to do anything different is just selling yourself short, and settling has never made anyone happy.local shopper jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01991313461461544448noreply@blogger.com
